Matthew specialises in the environmental, competition and pharmaceutical law departments.

Within environmental law, he has experience in due diligence investigations, reviewing and drafting environmental warranties, indemnities and other commercial arrangements in relation to mining and other industries, internal appeals, administrative reviews and environmental legal registers. Matthew has also drafted opinions on various aspects of environmental law including heritage resources, corporate environmental liabilities, carbon trading on a national, regional and international perspective and in preparing, reviewing and updating environmental legal registers.

In competition law, Matthew has been involved in obtaining merger approval with the competition authorities, corporate leniency applications and in drafting opinions in respect of the application of competition in respect of particular business practices.

Matthew has advised various pharmaceutical clients on compliance with the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act 101 of 1965 and other related issues.
