Bell Dewar has always provided legal services on a pro bono basis to charitable organisations. In 2008 Bell Dewar became a founding member of ProBono.org, a pro bono clearing house.

We take on ad hoc pro bono matters cleared by ProBono.org and our attorneys attend their HIV/AIDS and Refugee Clinics on a monthly basis to provide free legal advice to the public.

The AEC raises funds for bursaries to provide quality secondary education for disadvantaged boys and girls from Alexandra to develop future leaders.

This scholarship is awarded to a learner selected by the AEC in memory of William Lane. Mr Lane was the senior partner of Bell Dewar for many years.

Bell Dewar has been sponsoring a learner at Highlands Boys' High School since Grade 8. He is n Grade 11 in 2010 and we will continue to sponsor his school fees until his matric year.

Attorneys at Bell Dewar are encouraged to volunteer for AEC's mentorship programme to mentor learners who receive bursaries from the AEC. Workshops are held regularly and mentors offer guidance and support to the bursary holders.
